Bathwar completed his Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree from K. P. College of Commerce, Surat, affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, graduating in 2003. He went on to study law at V. T. Chokshi Law College in Surat, completing his LL.B. with a specialisation in business law in 2006. The same year, he was enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of India and the Bar Council of Gujarat, formally beginning his legal career.

Bathwar was born on 18 May 1983 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He married Jaya Hitesh Bathwar on 26 May 2013. Jaya Bathwar is the owner of Bathwars Services Private Limited. The couple have two sons, Pruthviraj and Digvijay.
